Privacy
What we collect on this website and in the MusiDrive app, who it goes to, and how long we keep it. The short version: we can't hear your music, and we don't sell or share anything for advertising.
This notice is from [legal name of the business] ("MusiDrive", "we"). Questions go to josepheddjr@gmail.com.
On this website
The waitlist
When you join, we keep your email address, the DAW and library size you picked, your place in line, when you joined, and the page you came from if your browser told us. We use them to invite you and to decide who to invite first. If you get a welcome email, it's sent through Resend.
To stop people flooding the form, we count sign-ups per IP address for 10 minutes, then the count is deleted.
We keep your entry until you ask us to remove it, or until the beta has opened to everyone and the list isn't needed. Email us from the address you signed up with and we'll delete it.
Signing in
When you sign in, we keep your email address and the name of the Mac you're signing in from, and send a six-digit code to your email through Resend. Codes are stored only in a form we can check but can't read, and expire after 10 minutes.
Everything else
No advertising trackers, no analytics and no cookies of our own. The checkout page loads Paddle's payment form, which Paddle's privacy notice covers. Your browser remembers that you've joined (so the form shows your place instead) in its own storage, which never leaves your browser. Our host, Vercel, keeps standard server logs such as IP addresses for a short time, for security.
In the MusiDrive app
Your sounds
Your files, and their names and folders, are encrypted on your Mac before they upload, with a key we never have. We store them with Backblaze, and they stay unreadable to us and to Backblaze. The security page explains how.
What our servers see
To keep your Macs in step, our server records how many files and versions you have, their sizes, when each change happened and what kind of change it was, and which of your Macs made it (as an id). We keep these records for as long as your Vault exists. Our logs note which kind of request was made, whether it worked and how long it took, without IP addresses; our providers Cloudflare and Backblaze see IP addresses as part of running the service.
Ask MusiDrive
If you ask MusiDrive to organise a folder, your Mac sends that folder's file paths, kinds and sizes and your request through our server to DeepSeek, which plans the moves. No audio or file contents are sent. DeepSeek is a company based in China, so this information leaves your country. We keep only a count of how many requests your Vault made each day. If you'd rather not share file names, don't use Ask; nothing is sent unless you do.
Importing from a link
When link import is available, a pack you import from a link is downloaded and unpacked on our import computer, encrypted with a one-off key your Mac made, and uploaded. The import computer can see those files while it works and deletes them as it goes.
Sound search
Runs entirely on your Mac. No audio is sent to anyone.
Billing
Payments go through Paddle, which is the seller of record: it takes your card or other payment details, charges you and handles tax and receipts. MusiDrive never sees your card number. Paddle tells us what we need to run your plan, and we keep: your subscription status, which plan you're on, and Paddle's customer and subscription ids for you. Paddle's own privacy notice covers what it keeps.
Your key
Your Vault key lives in your Mac's Keychain, and in iCloud Keychain if you turn that on (Apple's privacy policy covers that). We never receive it.
Who we share with
Only the services that run MusiDrive, for that purpose:
- Cloudflare: runs our server
- Backblaze: stores your encrypted files
- DeepSeek: plans moves when you use Ask MusiDrive
- Vercel: hosts this website
- Upstash: stores the waitlist
- Resend: sends the welcome email and sign-in codes
- Paddle: takes payments as the seller of record and handles card details
We don't sell your information or share it for advertising. We'd only hand something over if the law required it, and because your files are encrypted, all we could give is what's listed above.
How long we keep things
- Old versions of a file: 30 days after you replace or delete it.
- Your encrypted files and the change records: while your Vault exists. [How long after an account closes, once accounts exist.]
- Billing records (subscription status, plan and Paddle ids): while your account exists. [How long after it closes, for tax and accounting.]
- The waitlist: until you ask us to delete your entry, or the list is no longer needed.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, by emailing josepheddjr@gmail.com. [Rights specific to where you live, such as the UK and EU GDPR or California, to be added.]
